Overview
The “Ant Castle” stands on the hill of the UBE Biennale and is loved by citizens as a symbol of Ube, the City of Sculptures. In this program, participants can enjoy zazen meditation while gazing at the imposing figure of the sculpture. Art, which uplifts the spirit, and zazen, which pursues a state of nothingness.
At first glance, these two seem to be opposites, but both concentration and creation come from nothingness. Because there is nothing, there is something. The 360-degree view of nature awakens the sensation of being in such a state of mind. After zazen, take a walk around the 200 sculptures in the park with a guide’s commentary. You are sure to find your favorite one.

Please gather directly at Biennale Hill. This program is an outdoor program with local assembly and disbandment. If the experience spans lunchtime, please pay 1,000 yen to the sculpture volunteer guide as a lunch fee.
