Why not start your art tour with Zen meditation? At Souin-ji Temple, which is the eternal family temple of the Choshu domain and also the family temple of Hirotoshi Fukuhara, the feudal lord of Ube, you can experience authentic Zen meditation. The appeal lies not just in spending time sitting in meditation, but in confirming the correct posture and mental placement of Zen meditation. The mental changes you can feel through Zen meditation will also help you appreciate various arts you will encounter with new perspectives and feelings. The Ryushintei garden, the oldest garden in the prefecture and designated as a national scenic beauty spot, is also a highlight.
