From the Middle Ages to the present, Bizen Pottery, one of Japan’s most famous kilns, delivers beautiful and rustic works of art through clay and fire. In Bizen City, known for this craft, you will experience a walking tour of the kiln village and a Bizen pottery making session.
- Imbe Walking Tour
Surrounded by mountains, Imbe is a pottery village with many old kilns. Enjoy the unique atmosphere of Ibe’s old streets, guided by a knowledgeable guide. - Visit Amatsu Shrine
Amatsu Shrine is the spiritual center of Imbe potters. They pray to the gods to create better works. Before experiencing Bizen Pottery, let us purify our souls like professional potters and pray for good works. - Bizen Pottery Making Experience
Learn traditional techniques such as kneading and shaping, and create your own Bizen pottery. The finished product can be taken home, and each piece is unique. After the experience, enjoy a break with matcha tea in Bizen pottery cups.
