From the Middle Ages to the present, Bizen Pottery, one of Japan’s most famous kilns, delivers beautiful and rustic works of art through clay and fire. In Bizen City, known for this craft, you will experience a walking tour of the kiln village and a Bizen pottery making session.

  • Ibe Walking Tour
    Surrounded by mountains, Ibe is a pottery village with many old kilns. Enjoy the unique atmosphere of Ibe’s old streets, guided by a knowledgeable guide.
  • Visit to Tenjinyama Kiln
    Visit Tenjinyama Kiln, one of the traditional kilns in Ibe, and learn about the historical pottery techniques. Observe the pottery products and the production process at Tenjinyama Kiln.
  • Bizen Pottery Making Experience
    Learn traditional techniques such as kneading and shaping, and create your own Bizen pottery. The finished product can be taken home, and each piece is unique. After the experience, enjoy a break with matcha tea in Bizen pottery cups.
