A Report on Our Webinar for Overseas Travel Agencies

Navigating Japan
-What your clients need to know to enjoy a smooth trip-

On October 31 and November 1, we hosted a webinar concerning essential information for traveling in Japan.”

The webinar aimed to provide helpful information for overseas travel agencies who offer journeys in Japan, particularly for companies planning to handle Japan tours for the first time or those seeking to deepen their understanding of Japan.

We conducted the webinar three times to accommodate different time zones in Australia, Europe, and the United States. As a result, more than 30 overseas travel agencies participated. Additionally, we received numerous requests for access to the recording from those unable to attend the live sessions. In response, we arranged a limited-access recording, which also saw significant interest and applications.

Webinar overview

Japan’s culture and rules differ significantly from those in Europe, the US, Australia, and even other Asian countries, often leading to confusion for first-time visitors. As Japan continues to grow in popularity as a travel destination, cross-cultural understanding and thorough preparation is becoming increasingly important.

In this webinar, we covered a wide range of topics, from Japan’s unique rules and etiquette to essential information and practical guides that travelers should know. Our goal with this webinar was to provide participants with the necessary information that they can share with their clients, ensuring they are able to travel around Japan worry-free.

Participant Feedback

During the webinar, we used Zoom’s chat feature to accept real-time questions, receiving significant interest in topics such as Japan’s accommodations and temple lodgings. Following the webinar, we conducted a survey to gather feedback and inquire about destinations and themes of interest for future reference. Participants who responded were given a PDF of the slide materials used during the webinar.

The topics that were especially highlighted as useful were Japan’s tipping culture and policies regarding tattoos, rules and etiquette that travelers often worry about.

This webinar proved to be an ideal opportunity to connect with new companies, fostering valuable exchanges to promote the appeal of Japan as a travel destination. It also strengthened relationships with many organizations, marking an important step toward future collaborations.

At Heartland Japan, we offer journeys that allow travelers to experience the “authentic Japan” by engaging directly with the traditional culture and local customs of various regions. Amid ongoing population decline in rural areas, we are committed to promoting the charm of these regions and creating environments where future generations feel a sense of attachment to Japan’s countryside and aspire to live there once again.

We look forward to continuing to propose unforgettable trips to Japan and greatly appreciate your ongoing support and interest in our efforts.
