Yuko Watanabe reflects on her recent adventures among the volcanic peaks of Japan’s northern island.

“I had the opportunity to take part in a trial tour in the Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group, the tallest peaks in Hokkaido, to experience the magnificent scenery of this northern land.”

“I spent five days bathing in Hokkaido’s natural splendor, asking myself how we could possibly convey such beauty in words.”

“The tour included hiking up Mt. Asahi, cycling to Mt. Tokachi, exploring the Toma Limestone Cave, pika watching, an impromptu photo shoot in a sunflower field, a barbeque with local food, and more. A feast of fun for everyone.”

“I was struck this time around by how wonderful the local people and project members were, and at the final discussions, while sharing my thoughts from my past experiences in the travel industry (of various types), I felt that the past five days had brought me closer to them all.　I look forward to working with them again in the future!”
